Huge congrats go out to Sherry, the lucky recipient of the 20th anniversary deluxe edition box set for Empire by Queensryche.  Congrats!

Now, while the title of this post was a slightly clever nod to a certain Queensryche song from the Empire album, today’s post actually has to do with listening parties.

Those of you who are slightly older might remember the time in your life when you would go over to a friend’s house to enjoy a new album together.  For us uber-obsessive overly musical types, we would take it a step further, leave the house and actually go out to a club to hear an advance listen to albums in their entirety before they were even available in stores.

Oh, those were the days. These days, with this new-fangled internet technology, web leaks and advance web streams of upcoming albums, the listening party is sadly a thing of the past for most.  (Although Sixty Seconds of Heaven held quite the bitchin’ advance listening session at the Happy Dog earlier this summer.)

Good news:  The fine folks at V107.3 here in Cleveland would like to bring the spirit of the listening party back with actual real live listening party events at the Buckeye Beer Engine!

They’ll hold their first listening party next Thursday (11/18) at Beer Engine with the chance to put your ears around the awesome new Bryan Ferry album Olympia! Happy hour starts at 5:30 followed by the listening party at 7pm with  V107.3 DJs Rocco and Brad Hanson as your hosts.

The Ferry album will be the first of hopefully many chances to sample new music within the delicious confines of the Beer Engine – great brews, great grub and great tunes – you can’t beat that!  Admission is free – don’t miss it!
