Vintage Sounds: Jackson Browne and David Lindley – March 1st, 1974

You know, I sympathize with Ringo Starr just a little bit. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of mail that a Beatle receives. Actually, I think I can visualize it though – the word “voluminous” comes to mind.

I get a decent amount of site-related email, and a good percentage lately of that has been coming from music fans that dig the Jackson Browne/David Lindley stuff that I’ve featured here.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a kick with Jackson Browne/Bonnie Raitt/Bruce Springsteen, and actually will feature something here in the coming days/weeks that features all three of them.

How’s that for a tease?

One of the things that I enjoy about the email interaction, is some of the people that you meet. For instance, this week I received an email from David, a JB/DL fan who also happens to publish The Rylander, a quarterly Ry Cooder fan newsletter. From looking at David’s site, he’s also a Lindsey Buckingham fan as well – my kinda music fan!

David’s site is great – check it out and get details on the newsletter and the other things that he’s into – visit visit visit!

Emailing back and forth with JB/DL fans also led me to a couple more shows that I didn’t have.

Here is one of them, a broadcast recorded while Jackson and David were on tour in 1974 with Linda Ronstadt opening. This show is an electric performance, and Linda joins the band for the last number of the set.

The sound on this one isn’t as pristine as some of the stuff I usually post, but you’ll definitely dig this if you’re a Browne/Lindley fan.

Don’t forget about the new Jackson Browne album Time The Conqueror, in stores and available online now via your favorite digital places (Itunes, etc.)

  1. Did you ever do your post that features Jackson Browne/Bonnie Raitt/Bruce Springsteen? Like you said you would????

  2. Dan – it’s in that list of mythical posts that sit somewhere, unposted.

So in a word, no 🙂

I’ve got some stuff sitting on the server that I keep meaning to post, but I haven’t gotten to it.

The Springsteen/Raitt/Browne thing, I actually need to rip….you might have just twisted my arm, if I can get through my immediate backlog of stuff I want to get up here!!!

I’ll try to get it out soon….gotta dig it up first…just moved a bunch of stuff around at the house, so hopefully I haven’t misplaced it!
