One of my favorite books that I’ve read this year, is Looking for Calvin and Hobbes: The Unconventional Story of Bill Watterson and His Revolutionary Comic Strip by Nevin Martell. (You can check out my review at Popdose right here.) Until and unless Watterson decides to tell the story himself, this book is the most complete look that you’re going to get into the world of Bill Watterson and his wonderfully influential comic strip that has touched so many of us as fans.
In the spirit of the holiday season, Martell is giving away five autographed copies of his book – one of which will go to a lucky ATV reader!
Here are the contest details:
It’s the holiday season – a time for being thankful and for giving gifts. I’m incredibly thankful for all the support Looking for Calvin and Hobbes has received (It’s about to go into its 5th printing!!!), so I’m giving away five personally signed copies of it. To enter, all you have to do is email me or Tweet me a picture that demonstrates your Calvin and Hobbes fandom. It might be a shot of the abominable snowman you built, your Calvin tattoo, the Hobbes doll you sewed, a picture of your kid reading a collection, a sketch you drew of your favorite comic duo – whatever, go crazy. I will post the best entries and winners will be chosen in mid-January. By submitting your photos, you are giving me permission to post them online. Please feel free to link to this contest, Tweet about it, or write a blog post about it.
Click here to check out the complete details and submit your own entry – just make a note in your email that you saw this contest on Addicted to Vinyl! You can also check out some of the submissions that have already been received! I especially dig this Watterson-inspired woodcut that Shawn Johnsen created!
Our thanks to Nevin for partnering with us on this very cool giveaway! Nevin will pick the winners for the contest in mid-January. Good luck!
P.S. – Congratulations to Anastasia, who is the winner of last week’s REO Speedwagon contest.
