On Saturday night at the Winchester, our pal Joshua Jesty will take the stage with a full band, nicknamed The Death Panels for this performance only. This will be your only chance to see the Death Panels prior to their planned breakup at the end of the night. Josh got in touch with us and asked if we could mention the show on this here blog. We said no. He showed us a few pictures that he had on his digital camera, and we quickly relented.
So about that – here’s how the evening will play out….
At 9pm, our other pal Leah Lou will come bounding out onto the stage, like a circus clown in drag, although upon further examination, it won’t even be close to that. She will set the stage for the evening of awesomeness by playing a short set of acoustic rock jams that will end with Lou setting her guitar on fire, just like Hendrix did, before she quietly departs from the Winchester stage (in handcuffs, of course).
Barring the unplanned appearance of a sword swallower or a similar interlude, Joshua Jesty and the Death Panels will be the closing act for the evening. Jesty and his band will be performing a set of originals and perhaps even a cover song or two, incorporating material from his nationally acclaimed Girl CD, which came out earlier this year to both rave reviews and muted silence. The Winchester gig will simultaneously function as Jesty’s holiday show, birthday performance, and final show of the year.
All of this can be yours for an amazing FIVE dollars at the door.
But wait, there’s MORE!
The previously mentioned Girl, a full disc of outtakes from Girl titled Other Girl, and an amazing third album, Finally, Joshua Jesty is Famous – All the Hits: Vol. 15, are all available for free download/pay what you want at Joshua’s website until 2010.
You simply won’t find a better deal during this holiday season. And to top it all off, Jesty recently posted a scandalous new holiday video that features graphic footage of Baby Jesus being mistreated by local heathens, exclusively for your Youtube viewing enjoyment.
Feliz Navidad. We’ll see ya Saturday night, right?
