Counting Crows – The Ghost In You – The Wellmont Theatre Montclair, NJ 10/30/08

I got my hands on August and Everything After in 1993, drawn towards the purchase as many were, by hearing “Mr. Jones” on the radio.

As the opening moments of “Round Here” faded in, I knew I had purchased an album that was going to make a huge impact with me, and fifteen years later, August and Everything After remains a regular visitor in my world.

This is probably as good of a time as any to offer up an apology to any Clevelander that might have been present on a late weekend night in the 90s at Becky’s, the local watering hole located downtown at East 18th and Chester here in Cleveland. Becky’s won my heart on several levels with their food, the atmosphere, and the jukebox which had some choice albums, including August and Everything After.

A typical night found me loading 5 dollars into the jukebox, and programming my selection of tunes in, including at least one cut from August in the rotation.

Let me tell you that I realize now that “Perfect Blue Buildings” isn’t the most uplifting song to throw on on a weekend night out, but it’s a great song, isn’t it?

That was good enough for me.

I’m still on the hunt for that really great show from the August and Everything After tour, but this one is pretty good. I love love LOVE the version of “A Murder of One” in this set.

I’m guessing that you’ll love it too.

(p.s. – The band are starting to post some older shows @ LiveCountingCrows.Com – including one prior to the release of August and Everything After that I found shortly after writing this post.

I’m thinking that I MUST hear that!

According to this message board post, they will post a new archived show on the first Tuesday of each month.

And if they’re taking requests, I’d love to hear a good Recovering The Satellites-era show!)
