Classic Albums: Tom Petty “Damn The Torpedoes”

Mark your calendars for this one, which will be out August 3rd via Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD and Blu-ray.  It’s fantastic.  But then again, how could it not be awesome, watching Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Jimmy Iovine in the studio, breaking down multi-tracks of the songs that you love into the individual parts?

Here’s a nice preview for ya…..and if you want to geek out a bit more, they’re discussing the UK release (which came out earlier this year) here.

P.S. – bringing things back to the present, you can now stream the new Petty album Mojo in its entirety, here.

  1. Matt: thanks for posting this. I was unaware that it had been done. I love this series. I have seen them all…twice. They are on demand here in the UK on one of the cable stations. I was obviously unaware that I could buy this here as well. I'm off to the shop when it opens.

I devour this type of in studio dock material. How cool is it that Campbell found the riff to Refiugee from an old Labert King blues lick. Killer.

p.s. Iovine has no shame. The pair of Beats headphones he is wearing around his neck doesn't even have a cord.
