Cage Match: Xmas Edition Vol. 3 – Run DMC vs. The Waitresses

The big man is just around the corner, with his everpresent bag of toys and goodies, so we need to say goodbye for now, with our final Cage Match of 2009.

We've got two more holiday classics for you this week!

Perhaps you'd prefer to hear it on vinyl?

Lots of covers of this one, including The Donnas, Save Ferris, and the Spice Girls!

Run DMC or The Waitresses - what's your pick?

Once in a while you actually give us a tough one, Wardlaw. I'm going to go with Run-DMC, for no real reason.

Going local. The Waitresses. No question.

Gotta go with Run DMC on this one. Gotta.

While the Waitresses song has a great groove, fantastic horns and one of the best bass lines ever, it loses points for half-assed lyrics that need to be stretched out in order to fit the meter (last lyric – “to a very happy eh-ehn-ding”). Run-DMC win because they are the first artists to ever work “collard greens” into a Christmas song.

Tough one but gonna say Christmas Wrapping because it has stuck to me the most this year, starting in October. It's partly because of that song that I've been cooling and chilling like a snowman more than usual this holiday season.

Pete you're showing your I (heart) Ohio tendencies again!

strange, that didn't even register…and I grew up less than 10 miles away from Hollis.
I like Chrissie Hynde more than Joan Jett too :)
