My pal Rob emailed me last week with the question, "What would the Holidays be without giving away a Lionel Train Car?"
He had no idea that he had just emailed the semi-authority on Lionel Model Trains. While that is a slight exaggeration, Lionel Trains did play a part in my early youth.
Dad got me into model trains when I was growing up, and showed me his rather used and abused (mostly from years of moving from one location to another) Lionel train set. Thanks to those previously mentioned moves from state to state, we never quite got around to building that model train layout that we'd talked about, but I definitely was a model train nut in those early years. Anybody who shares that love, will understand the excitement of going to the store, and being able to pick out a train car to add to your lineup, or perhaps another accessory. Those were good times.
Thanks to Rob and the fine folks at Vapor Records, we've got a very cool contest to brighten your holiday season!
With the arrival of the holidays, a familiar scene will take place around many Christmas trees this season, as families set up their beloved model train set. This time-honored holiday tradition will also take place at the home of guitarist Neil Young who is a long-time fan of model railroading. In fact, Mr. Young was once a part-owner of the Lionel Train Company and, in turn, his label Vapor Records would have a commemorative ‘Lionel Holiday Train Car’ created to share with friends and family.
And now, one of these limited promo-only commemorative Vapor Records Holiday Train Cars can be yours for the keeping. In addition, the lucky winner will also receive a CD 5-pack of the latest releases from Vapor Records:
- Everest ‘Ghost Notes’
- Jason Yates ‘Jason Yates’
- Jets Overhead ‘No Nations’
- Jonathan Richman ‘Because Her Beauty Is Raw And Wild’
- Vic Chesnutt ‘Skitter On Take-Off’
One lucky ATV winner gets their choice of any one of these model train cars + the 5-pack of Vapor Records releases! Send us an email (one per person, please) with "Lionel" in the subject line for your chance to win! Hurry up and enter today as the Rock ‘N Roll Train is getting ready to leave the station.
