Cleveland Bachelor’s Show of the Week – Evangelicals

Hello ATVians,

I’m back to greet you with another live show pick to click. This time, I have something particularly exciting to announce. Those of you who read my blog, Cleveland Bachelor, will know already that I’m a big fan of John G., a Cleveland-based artist who has been known to turn out a killer concert poster or two.

Somehow or other, I managed to convince John to partner up with me on a Cleveland Bachelor Show of the Month poster series. The hook is this: I pick a show, send the info to John, and with a little conceptual help on my end and a whole lot of artistic skill on his, we wind up with a poster that the Beachland then uses to promote the event. I also promote it on my own blog, with frequent updates concerning the band’s in question.

This month, for our inaugural poster, we chose the Evangelicals show on Saturday, November 21st. The poster image can be found below, but if you want to learn a little more, click here to learn a little more about John’s artistic process on this poster, here for a recently released publicity teaser for the band’s eagerly awaited third album (due out in 2010), or here for my original introduction to the poster series.

Evangelicals

As I mention in that last post, Evangelicals have two stellar albums to their name, 2006’s So Gone and 2008’s The Evening Descends, and Floridian openers Holiday Shores aren’t anything to joke about either. However, if you still need the pot to be sweetened, consider this: earlier in the evening, round about 7:30, I’ll be hosting the weekly iteration of Low Life Gallery’s Rank & File Film Series, where basically it is my turn to subject you to my favorite movie while you sit in the gallery and drink whatever tasty beverage you choose to bring.

Additional ATV Picks:

Former Michael Jackson guitarist (and Jeff Beck band member) Jennifer Batten brings her speedy fingers to The Winchester stage tomorrow night (Wednesday) for a rare Cleveland appearance.

Ian McLagan returns to the Beachland Ballroom on Thursday night for a solo performance minus the Bump Band, and the Beachland will also play host on Friday night to a tasty double bill of Radney Foster and Chris Castle.

Friday night, the opportunity presents itself for you to once again shake it with the Money Man – er, you know – Eddie Money! He’ll have your two tickets to paradise and more at The Tangier in Akron.

Will Hoge will also be playing a gig on Friday night at the Kent Stage. We highly recommend Will’s current album The Wreckage!

ATV pal Scott Banham has a cool gig on tap with his band Unknown Reason – the band will be opening for 70’s Cleveland faves Artful Dodger at the Agora on Saturday night. Grab tickets here.

Also happening on Saturday night, Matt and Laurie from 90’s Cleveland alterna-faves The Waynes will be playing acoustically with friend Kelly Wright at Brother’s Lounge from 6pm-9pm. You can expect a mix of covers and Waynes favorites, and here’s the best part – there’s no cover charge!

  1. Hi Matt,
Thanks for the plug! As an added bonus, the show with Artful Dodger/Unknown Reason is going to be in the Ballroom. Up close and personal for the lucky few who can grab the remaining tickets.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  2. Wow. I'd love to see AD in the Ballroom, but I think my schedule is going to prevent that. Happy to see things happening at the Agora though!!
