Cage Match: Solid Gold vs. Soul Train

Welcome to another edition of the award-winning (we’re lying) Cage Match series, and one that Michael and I consider to be a special week for the series.

We’re going to present this one in the style of Narm’s award-winning (we’re lying again) “Would Ya Wednesday” series. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this, it’s Narm’s weekly simple question with pictures that inquires quite innocently to ask exactly how naughty you would like to get with a particular celebrity. There’s a guy for the girls, and a girl for the guys each week, and as I continue to think about it, this really has nothing to do with “Would Ya Wednesday” at all.

Although, WAIT. There are guys and girls involved with this week’s Cage Match!

Connection!

Viva la Win!

Back in the day, the kids used to like to dance quite a bit, usually to the music being played live (another lie) by the popular groups of the time. And they liked to do this kind of stuff on television.

Two of the more famous programs that came to mind for us, were Solid Gold, and Soul Train.

Which brings us to this week’s Cage Match:

Solid Gold Dancers or Soul Train Dancers – Who’s the better buncha dancers in your opinion?

Solid Gold (watch at the 4:05 mark for the supreme dance off action shakedown)

As a bonus feature, please enjoy this interview with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince from Soul Train. We did. And we’re guessing that Will Smith got his hands on some of that “Hammer money” since this was filmed…

  1. Well it’s some kind of a reminiscing of the past. And I like it and it’s nice to see this once again. I could see the leap of difference as of today when it comes to music and television programs.

  2. Soul Train by a mile. Although any show that features the Vapors “Turning Japanese” gets serious bonus points for content…

  3. Dance Party USA..haha, the Cage Match organizers did not think of that one when considering potential contestants for this week’s match. A huge oversight!

  4. I am going to go with the Solid Gold dancers which, I realize, brings my cheese tolerance to an all-time low; however, I think they get major points for the kaleidoscope effect on “Passion”… and for allowing former host Andy Gibb do lines backstage with Marilyn McCoo while The Steve Miller Band dance-synches onstage to “Abracadabra”. Solid Gold for the win.
