The Great Metallica Debate

Metallica w/ that Jason Newsted guy

As a publicity whore, I was happy when Scene Magazine got in touch and asked if I’d be interested in debating various Metallica topics, leading up to their pending induction on Saturday night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Brian and I will be in attendance for the induction ceremonies, and I think it’s very possible that he’ll write some long wrapup about the ceremonies that I can swipe and link to from here.

My roommate is shooting the red carpet on Saturday, and everywhere I turn, it’s Rock Hall, Rock Hall, Rock Hall! Induction week fever is definitely in the air.

I’m looking forward to it, and also stoking to get on out to the Rock Hall to check out the Bruuuuuuuuuce exhibit that opened on Wednesday.

Here are links to the first four rounds of our little Metallica debate, featuring myself, Chris Akin from Pitriff.com, and Scene staff writer D.X. Ferris. I think we’ve got at least one more round that will post before the ceremonies. And then, it’s all over baby blue, *sniff*.

Thanks to the Scene folks for the invite! The debate is part of their newly re-launched C-Notes music blog, which you should check out ASAP. Thanks to C-Notes, I learned yesterday that Buckner and Garcia, those “Pac-Man Fever” guys, are from Akron. Who knew?

Round 1 – Fade to Black vs. Escape

Round 2 – Best Metallica Album

Round 3 – Rank the Metallica albums

Round 4 – Best album between The “Black Album” and Death Magnetic

By the way, remember how we got snubbed last year on Metallica tour dates here in Cleveland? Cleveland finally gets a date on the Death Magnetic tour on October 15th at Quicken Loans Arena. Tix are $72.50 and $52.50 and go on sale Saturday morning at 10am.

Grab your tix, and get your “Metal Up Your Ass” t-shirt out of mothballs for Cleveland’s date with the “World Magnetic” tour – it’s gonna be great.

  1. I remember when St. Anger came out, I was working at the record store, and two of the guys there memorized all the lyrics, and walked around for days reciting it like Shakespeare. It was hilarious.

  2. “Swipe” was a bit harsh. I think “team coverage” would be more appropriate.

You’ll do a much better job of colorizing the evening from our nosebleed seats.

  3. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog
that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
