My very special visit to Rally’s

My early evening plans changed slightly tonight, and I found myself heading through the Rally’s drive-thru to grab dinner. Rally’s for dinner is somewhere in the list of the top ten worst things you can do to your body, hanging out with McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and crystal meth. But dang, it is good.

I had a hankering for a couple of chili cheese burgers and fries.

By the time I got to ordering, I had changed my mind, and decided to go for the Philly Cheese Steak burger instead.

As I was pulling up to the drive-thru window, I noticed a new sticker that said “Now we’re open very late.”

At this point, things got weird, and I swear to you, an animatronic version of Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz appeared and began singing “now we’re open very very very ve-ry laaaaaate” to the tune of the popular Counting Crows favorite “Round Here.”

Duritz then started to mumble, something about having screwed things up with Jennifer Aniston back in the day, and while I was inclined to discuss this with him, I realized that I needed to document this.

I tried to capture the moment on film with my phone, but a strange electrical current suddenly surged from the sky, and my phone turned itself off as it fell from my hand into the passenger floorboard, carried by some strange unseen force.

I blacked out, and when I woke up, I was at home on my couch with an open Dr. Pepper and empty Rally’s bag nearby.

Strange.

Side note: In the video above, is that “The Hoff” in the crowd around 1:48? And was there someone hassling him?
