The real me, as seen through someone else’s eyes

I don’t often blog (anywhere) about work, but I have to share this moment from yesterday at the office.

We had an introductory conference call with some potential business partners, and we were in the midst of doing introductions on our end. As my good comrade RP was finishing a lengthy introduction, I made the move to follow with a brief introduction of myself (believe it or not, this is usually the only time I am ever brief. I HATE introductions.)

“After that last introduction, I’ll make this brief – Hi, I’m Matt and…”

“Oh, I know who YOU are,” interrupts the voice on the other end. “I Google’ed your name.”

“That’s a great picture of you with Simon LeBon!”

Okay, yeah…..that was slightly unexpected.

Later in the conversation, reference is made to “we obviously know that Matt likes to write!”

So I guess that I have finally and not so silently, achieved my silent goal. When you enter my name into Google, there’s definitely no question that music is more than slightly a part of my life.

And it only took roughly 15 years for someone to call me out on it in an unusual setting.

It was a fun moment, and we all had a good laugh about it.

Just had to share….have a great day, all!
