Keeping ya’ll up to date

Hello loyal Vinyl readers…what’s going on?

I’ve been keeping busy here in Cleveland, playing the part of “homeowner,” and recent highlights in that part of my world include buying a hedge trimmer to trim parts of the small forest that is threatening to take over my back yard. Speaking of that, I’ve also got a giant tree that fell into my back yard during a storm a couple of weeks back that was formerly located in my neighbor’s back yard behind my house.

The good news is, that the tree didn’t hit my garage (or the garage next door to me, which was just redone.) The bad news is that the tree is still in my back yard, and the neighbor that was going to handle getting it removed, seems to be a bit AWOL at the moment.

Cool!

Now back to music…

On the musical tip, it looks like I’ll be headed back to Dayton, OH on Wednesday night, back to Fraze Pavilion. The Fraze was the site for my big 80s road trip extravaganza with Night Ranger, etc (review still to come!) and it remains one of my favorite venues.

Wednesday night, I’ll be seeing Dire Straits mainman Mark Knopfler for the second time at Fraze (and second time overall.) The Fraze date of the Shangri-La tour was easily a top five show of all of the shows that I’ve seen, and any chance that you get to see Knopfler play “Telegraph Road” within driving distance, is a chance that you should take.

I’m looking forward to seeing the show, and hopefully my longtime comrade Tony will be able to make the show, but it sounds like that might be a gametime decision for him, so we’ll see.

What’s with all of the hype?

Addicted to Vinyl has been added to The Hype Machine, one of my favorite websites for learning about new music. The Hype Machine is great for jogging my memory on bands that I haven’t thought about in a while, too! I’m thrilled to have ATV added to the Hype Machine list – thanks for the support, guys!

Out on the road today
I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac
A voice inside my head said don’t look back
You can never look back

“The Boys of Summer” by Don Henley

It wasn’t a Deadhead sticker, but I did see a Cocteau Twins bumper sticker on a Toyota RAV4.

Talk about random, that’s random in my book. It made me wish I had a Del Amitri bumper sticker to put on my car…..
