I’ll continue to follow up on the ongoing debate regarding the new Judas Priest album Nostradamus, which we’ve talked about previously.
My good friend Chris Akin spent an hour on Saturday night’s edition of The Classic Metal Show debating and talking about the new album with Blabbermouth.net contributor Keith Bergman (another longtime friend of mine.)
Bergman catches a fair amount of flak for his unflinchingly honest reviews that appear on the Blabbermouth site. His review for the new Judas Priest is no exception.
Keith and Chris discuss that review, and take phone calls from CMS listeners. Hear the audio via the embedded player below:
In related news, Blabbermouth reports the following:
According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), “Nostradamus” is poised to sell around 50,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release for a likely Top 10 debut on The Billboard 200 chart. If “Nostradamus” does in fact crack the Top 10, it will give the band its highest-ever career chart position in the U.S.
Anyone that trashes this epic tale of storytelling just doesn’t get it. Can’t wait for September 12 in Sydney!!. Bring it on Painkillers!!!
After having a listen with my cracking new cd player i found Nostradamus an excellent album.
It does take a little while for it to grow, no doubt
it will not please all Priest fans, may isolate many fans too, strings, keyboards, acoustic guitar, operatic parts too, symphonic, but at least one good thing there are some killer riffs. Looking
forward to the show in Melbourne.
I have been a Judas Priest fan for almost thirty years as well as a professional musician, I have seen several live performances by Priest, Ozzy, Maiden, Triump, Journey, Mega Death, Sabbath and many other top act thoughout the years and Judas Priest is superior in talent and all other aspect of music then the others especially in their live shows. The new album is absolutly brilliant who thought that the worlds best band could keep on getting better, the singing , the mixing all the diffent instuments that kk and Glen use it just shows muturity and the contunuing growing talent that keeps on giving us everthing that is great. Just remember Judas Priest always satisfies the fans with great albums that are always different and special, staying humble, supporting others and always helping other groups. Just remember when Judas Priest stops playing for good we will all be devestated and metal will never be the same, so enjoy the Priest while you can and go see them live because it is the greatest show on earth.
Larry,
Priest is always one of my favorite bands to see live. I’m jealous that you’ve seen Triumph – I’m hoping that I’ll finally get to do that, since they are in the midst of a reunion tour!
Peter –
Good to hear another opinion on the album…
Thanks to both of ya for stopping by!
