R.E.M. have joined the ongoing trend (Barenaked Ladies, NIN, etc.) of offering up high quality workparts for fans to offer their interpretation of the band’s own art. This time, fans have the opportunity to create their own video for the band’s new single Supernatural Serious.

After being completely disgusted by the last R.E.M. album “Around The Sun,” I’ve got great hope for the new album. I can’t get ENOUGH of Supernatural Serious, which is in my opinion, the best lead off track I’ve heard from R.E.M. in years. Michael Stipe and company really reached back to 1989 for this one, and I’m all good with that.

The band has launched a Youtube channel for the track, where they will also post the fan video interpretations that they receive. Should be cool stuff.
